Praise God the adoption is finally final after 14 years and we are so excited!
For those of you who do not know me, my name is Angie Wheeler and I have served as a missionary in Mozambique, Africa for the past 17 years. I am a registered nurse and love having the ability to help others and share Jesus at the same time. I pioneered a ministry called Beacon Of Hope that is helping teenage boys get an education, learn life skills and giving them tools necessary to build their futures to become men of God who will change their nation for Jesus.
I met Enia my first year in Mozambique while working at a children center at the age of 1 ½ and at the age of 3 she came to live with me and this began my family. One Sunday I was making rounds visiting the sick kids in their dorms, and was late to church. When I entered Enia saw me, left her dorm group and came running to me and crawled up in my lap. At some point I looked down and Enia had fallen asleep and was so precious and I heard a voice say, “She is going to be your daughter.” It was not an audible voice, just a still small voice I heard in the quietness of my heart. I smiled and loved that thought and have loved her, prayed over and protected her all these years, and very soon she will officially become Enia Renée Rae Wheeler! Enia will turn 18 in November.
Peter arrived several years later, when he was only 4 months old. Peter has faced some health struggles as he had malaria twice before the age of 1 and numerous infections. The doctors did some testing and felt he was delayed in development. Peter has soared in speech therapy, and doing well in his school. He is the most amazing little boy, whose love knows no bounds, and becomes instant friends with everyone he meets. Peter turned 10 years old this last April. Very soon he will be Peter Christopher Wheeler.
I began Enia's adoption in November 2005 and later attached Peters adoption to the process. Due to many different lawyers, or documents being lost, paying for the process several times over, we found a lawyer who finally got the job done.
Once all is completed on the Mozambican side I will need to begin the process of paperwork, immigration visas to the USA,
My heart's desire has always been to be a mother and although it did not happen as I planned, I am beyond grateful for these 2 precious children.
Adoption is a gift, family is a gift and we are finally a family on paper not just in our hearts.
